The Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) works to create consensus and lead advocacy efforts to ensure that collectively, our voices are amplified and heard through their work in four main areas: government relations, Israel advocacy, inter-group relations and social justice. The JCRC is pro-active by being the community relations agency of the Jewish community throughout Ocean County, NJ. The JCRC builds bridges and forges relationships based on similar interests. They centrally coordinate with other faiths and ethnic based groups that share our passion for social justice and other interests that we care about most. They also partner with local and state organizations. This enables the JCRC to advocate for Jewish institutions and values, educate the community about key issues of concern and reach out with our neighbors to build a better world for us all.
The JCRC reaches out to government officials at the federal, state and local levels to advance the legislative agenda of the Jewish community in Ocean County and throughout the State of New Jersey.
Israel Advocacy & International Affairs
The JCRC’s Israel Action Center coordinates our community’s response to issues and events concerning the Middle East and Jews around the world. We advocate for support of Israel to political leaders and the media. We educate the community through regular briefings and programs. Examples of programs we provide are our Israel Engagement Fellowship for Teens, Annual Scholar in Residence, Conference Call Series and Israel Advocacy trainings at area synagogues and our Middle East Forums.
Fundamental to the JCRC’s mission is the belief that the security and well-being of the Jewish community is connected to that of all groups in our community. JCRC builds bridges between local Jews and other Metropolitan Washington area faith and ethnic communities.
The JCRC works for justice by advocating for public policies that promote fairness and equality. We give back to the community through partnerships with other Jewish agencies, organizations and synagogues in which we engage Jewish individuals and groups in meaningful social justice learning and effective social action projects in the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. area.
